"Someone else got away with an exploit, so that means all of us should get off the hook, right?"
Nostalrius got limited resources, apparently someone got lucky, that still doesn't mean you didn't exploit stuff.

Can't speak for anyone else who got banned, but did I knowingly exploit a bug? No, since usually veins inside hives/caves don't work the exact same way as they do out in the world, with that in mind I never considered they were bugged. Also when I see a rank 14 player running around doing the exact same thing, I will probably trust that what I'm doing is not an exploit.

I never knew workers should aggro on mining, played all of vanilla too!

But I'm guessing that's not the exploit Nos banned for, they probably saw people running past red mobs and banned them for that. Even though the red mobs are accurately passive.

But hey it's free right.

Yeah I don't think anyone would level again on Nos after being banned like that.

Does the TOU state you can be banned for bugs that maybe aren't bugs but no one really knows, cause it should come with this warning.

This isn't a "this guy is the one that should get banned" or anything like that issue. I'm sorry if my post made it seem as such.

It's a "No warning" "How could the players even know" "It's not even an exploit" and "randomly banning people with little investigation" issue.

There is a huge difference between something like opening a bunch of boxes because you know an Alcors might be in there and mining nodes that have little to no difference here as on retail. Permabanned. How many days /played do you have? How many do you think other people have? How much time you think they spent improving their character only to be permanently banned for something they didn't even know wasn't working? How bout for something that is working exactly like it did on retail? What if it happened to you tomorrow because they decide to crack down on something else?

This could have been solved in 5 minutes with some forethought and none of this extra crap. Warnings given and a minuscule amount of investigation could have shown if people were maliciously (lol) farming nodes and stopped them/others doing so. Bans (ranging in severity) if they actually were and some deleted materials.

Edit: The above paragraph sounds like Captain Hindsight flying in to save the day, and that would be the case if it weren't for this exact situation having happened earlier with these exact solutions presented. the difference is that Nost stepped it up to permabans this time, and last time no one liked/likes Monkeynews so it was easier to shrug off.

What we got is a permabann to at least one innocent player, people afraid to farm (in a game designed around farming), and this whole shit-show on da forums.

I hope if I get permabanned for blizzlike farming because I want to be ready for the next raid players will support me instead of saying 'you must have exploited. Deal with it.'
You are not special. No one knows your name. No one will remember your name. Nothing you do will matter. Ever.

But this server isn't blizzlike. Maybe blizzlike farming really is considered exploiting in general.

You'll be disappointed. Unfortunately most realised that too late to throw away what they've already spent time on and will support the devs over you, no matter how unjust you think it is.

Really curious as to how high the chances are for the devs/GMs coming to their senses and lifting the bans. Thinking about whether or not leveling a new character is worth it.
