There was multiple flaws on live vanilla they didn't get around to fix untill way later

This was not just some vanilla bug this shit existed all the way into wrath when they added the ability to just do it via-ingame clickable. We used it to farm honor for the entire time BC was out as well. This not some hidden thing, if you had actually played WoW back then you would know this.

Ignore the word vanilla then, throughout the time there has been alot of shit they didn't get around to fix for a long time, especially with regards to addons, there was an entire raid tier with an addon that enabled people to see where bosses would cast their abilities etc before it was banned.

every addon that has anything to do with bgs in any capacity uses it

If this is true, it's crazy.

On retail I used an addon called Stinkyqueue which has been referenced. Basically it automatically queued everyone in your raid group when (I believe) they had the Battlemaster's dialogue opened after the raid leader pressed something causing everyone to queue at once. It didn't guarantee everyone would get into the same AV since it was still technically single queueing each player.

When I introduced this to my guild, my guild master required me to get permission from a GM confirming it was legit and screenshot the conversation -- since the addon does sound a bit fishy. I did this. The GM said it was okay.

If Nostalrius wants to prohibit addons like Lazypig from executing such macros automatically, I don't have a problem with that as long as they make that clear explicitly.

Guess what? People wasn't banned for that, or items removed. Blizzard FIXED their game, and everyone shrugged it off..

If Nostalrius team had just closed the option to do this and given a message about it, then anyone who had used it up until now, would have gotten away with exploiting that bug and all the rep with it.

In other words, Nostalrius team would be telling the server: "You're free to exploit all you can think of. Worst thing that happens is you won't be able to continue doing it."

This action is them saying: "Dont try to be a smartass. Just play the game as it was ment to be."

It was literally a decade ago. I can tell you that Stinkyqueue was an addon on Vanilla that was widely used and that's a fact I'm sure you can dig up on Google. I have no reason to believe anyone was ever banned for it since a GM explicitly told me it was legal and fine to use.

Again, I have no issue with outlawing things along the lines of LazyPig etc. Just be explicitly clear, admins.

I wouldn't have a problem with this, if it wasn't for the fact that nostalrius is a copy of an already existing game where it was allowed. Blizzard knew it and was okay with it, nostalrius was oblivious to this and is now trying to police the server.
