well actually the ping result can rely in a few factors.
the main factor is distance.
the further away you are from the server the higher your ping is.
( ping is the result of how long it takes to get a reply back from the server you are pinging.
you send a small package of data to the server, the server says back to you " yes I received it" . the time it takes to send, for the server to receive, and send a reply back that you received is the ping time)
so if you are on another continent then Europe, likely your ping increases a lot.
second, your internet subscription.
cable / DSL provide okay ping.
fiber optic from the server to your home even across continent provide good ping although extremely expensive..
satellite, most of the times forget it... that uses a secondary geo-stationary satellite to relay your internet connection back to the ground.
so in short, are you far away from the server your ping will be higher
also if your internet connection is poor ( up to 5Mb/s is considered poor by me)
there might be some software to tweak it a little bit, but don't bother with that.
