Do you manage to combine WoW with real life?

by Athena » Sat May 02, 2015 1:43 pm

  • Are you currently occupied, such as work or studies?
  • Have you completed a higher education, for instance a master's thesis or a doctorate?
  • Are you currently in a relationship?
  • Do you have more than 10 friends who you know for sure would let you stay at their place for a month or two if you found yourself homeless?
  • Do you have other interests apart from WoW? If yes, do you spend more time on them or on WoW?
  • Are you making an impact in other people's life? For instance by volunteer working on a weekly basis.
  • Would you consider yourself having a good general knowledge?
  • Do you struggle with overweight?
  • What do you think your life would look like if you spent no more than 2 hours each week sitting in front of a computer?

There is no hidden agenda to this poll. I asked similar questions back in 2005 when I was playing on retail, and just found out I saved the results on an external harddrive. I'm mostly interested in the demographics of people playing WoW, and nowadays also how the private server scene differ from retail WoW.

Hope you want to share something about yourself, feel free to answer just some of the questions if you find some uncomfortable :)

I'm in welding school from 7AM-3:30PM, monday to friday
No, I haven't
No, I'm not
Probably
Yes, I like drumming, drinking booze, welding, watching movies, playing other games, reading history
I tend to keep to my own business, but I'm willing to help friends if they ask me to, like if someone needed help moving, but not if it's like "guard my dog for twelve hours". I don't get asked to help very often because my friends usually fix their shit themselves.
No, I could put on a few kilos
I would probably be bored, I'd have to get into a band again do have something to do. I have ADHD so I can't sit around doing nothing.

Yes I work and I'm enrolled to begin Graduate school this month.

I am married but no kids yet.

Friends like that? No, but family, yes.

Lol, other interests besides WoW? Is this a serious question? Wow is ONE game.. there's millions of others just as good if not better. Also, there's tons of other stuff I love to do (movies, music, going out, etc.)

No I don't volunteer. I don't have the time ATM.

Lol, a "good general knowledge?" I'm not an idiot if that's what you mean!

Haha, no I don't "struggle with overweight." I work-out regularly.

Two hours each week? You couldn't play WoW with only two hours a week. It would take you years upon years to get to the end game. If I only had two hours I wouldn't be as happy as I am because I'm a serious gamer so I need around 5-10 a week to play games/surf the web/have a good time.

***The key to remember for the younger players is that this is a GAME. Yeah you can be the greatest at WoW but if your real life sucks, you suck. Get a job, partner, and contribute to society so you'll feel good about yourself.***

Pretty much how it does now... Go to the gym with my husband, walk our dogs, go looking for kitchy antiques

5) Last ~ 2 weeks more time on wow. Last 10 years hardly anytime on wow.
6) I would like to think i make a net positve impact on those people that are around me. As for volunteer work, no.
7) General knowledge, no - nor do i care for it. Specific knowledge, yes - i love learning.
8) No.
9) Completely different as my income comes from computer work. I'd probably go back to uni and do a PhD, which i'm tempted to do anyway.
