I am just wondering, I did look threw the other posts in the forums, maybe I missed it, but anyways, was wondering if AV is going to be the normal (as of now) run past everyone and kill the bosses? or is it gonna be more like org vanilla with the big ass death matches and summoning of the big bad asses, if i remember right the ice lord for horde and the tree for ally? havnt seen them in a LONG time so kinda hard to remember. but what are your thoughts? should they be the DMs or the boss runs?

Alterac Valley will be original = pre-nerf on Nostalrius, that was one of their strong "selling points" and devs invested a lot of time into it. There was even massive AV public test, you can dig info/feedback on it somewhere in the "announcements" section.

TLDR: You won´t see much of zergs running past each other.

ofc rogues will enjoy AV. sneak behind enemy raid and kill lowhp people who wait for heals after being in the frontline.

You realize people that just fought in the middle did that because they didn't know how to play AV right?

That's how you're supposed to play it. You're not supposed to just run past each other's raid waving without fighting. That wouldn't work in the original version, was never intended, and the BG never should have been changed to support it. It was changed because people complained that it took too long. Yes, it was another thing ruined because people complained about it even though it was fine as is. So Blizzard made it faster. Once again, everyone defined "faster" as being "better". After you could race to the general and end the matches in 5mins, they were then happy. They didn't want epic battles, they just wanted quick matches, win or lose, they don't care, just get it over with faster so we can go into the next match to do it again.

Rogues are fine in AV if they don't fight in pileups like a Warrior. The problem is that this is exactly what they all wanted to do. You're supposed to use stealth to go for objectives or lonely targets. Fighting inside towers helps to avoid being shot at by all the ranged classes.

People will still run past each other when they realize how much less of a reward you get for drawing out the game for over an hour instead of rushing and trading towers/bosses. What needs changing to support the old school way of playing AV is a better reward scheme for defending. Otherwise the knowledgeable AV player which is most of us by now tbh, will continue to chase the better reward; which is avoiding fights where possible and rushing the objectives.

You can get nice rep by turning in other players loot, but what happens when people get exalted then? If AV doesn't give good honor then people will just stay in warsong/AB instead, if AV does give good honor but only if you end the game in 10 minutes then it becomes a boring BG and nothing like classic was when we were noobs. The only reason I worry is because all the AV's I played in the test were short, so I hope the right adjustments are made by the time we get to play the map again.

Correction: You THINK they will, but players tend to be distracted by shiny objects.

Or in this case, a massive squad of Doomguards summoned by the Horde Warlocks.

Also, the best rep gain for your AV faction is the in-instance missions. You know people are going to be doing them on top of trying to keep towers/graveyards/etc. because they need that for the AV weapons which are actually VERY amazing even in raids.

I honestly believe you are gonna be right. I enjoyed old AV alot but I also believe players arent gonna play it like they did in vanilla. Perhaps more bonus honor when summoning korak or whenever he kills someone, that honor gets split into the raid could be more incentive to play like that ?

This is a legit concern and could very well happen. I'd say it's more likely to happen rather than not. There would be ways to fix this via different honor scaling through scavenging, and doing the optional objectives. Otherwise people might as well just rush objectives and win the game as fast as possible, as it's only logical to do the quickest way out that also grants the most honor. There's no reason to NOT do it.
