Will def need to try Elemental next time i decide to level a shaman
ya if you play a shaman like a mage you will run out of mana fast. I would level something like this..
When questing/grinding you want to engage a mob that is within pulling distance of another 3 or 4 mobs. you pull the first mob with 2 lightning bolts and shock, drop your fire totem, stoneskin, healing and then auto attack the mob (with flametongue weapon) until its dead. pull the next mob and repeat this until you get all 4 or 5. You will need to put your fire totem down again during this, but you should be able to kill the 4 - 5 within the time your stoneskin/healing is up.
to get the right positioning for all that... imagine, from a birds eye view, you draw a circle around the first mob you want to pull, the 3 or 4 additional mobs should be around the edges of that circle.
shocks depend on whatever is best damage. Or if your facing a caster, use your earthshock to interupt. you can also use grounding totem as often as you like as the mana cost is minimal for the hp it saves.
Never use your heals in between fights, bandage. and eat when you drink.
If you get 2 crits on the first 2 LBs, dont cast the shock.
Once you have the talent that makes crits x2 dmg, only cast 2 spells if you get a crit. (so LB 1 crits, just throw lightning bolt 2 and dont use shock).
whenever clearcasting procs, always use the highest damage spell.
once you get the talent that reduces the cast time of lightning bolt, replace the shock with a 3rd LB
The idea behind this last part is to always do the same amount of damage with spells to each mob,. instead of using crits to down a mob faster, you use them to prolong the mana pool.
So ele leveling, from my experience, is to burst a chunk of hp with a few spells, then make use of your leather/mail, shield, stoneskin, healinstream to soak up tons of damage, and dps down slowly, with fire totem and flametongue, the rest of their hp.
no matter what spec the shaman takes, its not 100% melee or caster, youll always have to make use of both.
hope that makes sense hah first part was hard to explain
