Psychological warfare. In WoW, you can't trash talk your opponent. So, you emote.

/laugh is an excellent taunt because it's audible.

I just notice that people who use emotes in bg's often do so on completely inappropriate moments that show they have no clue about what is going on.

For example when their team is getting their ass kicked by ours and someone does a /laugh at a moment they kill me. Only a /ashamed would make sense at such a moment. Congrats on the kill, but you are getting destroyed buddy. You shouldn't have been killing me but our fc if you had any clue about tactics.
