Nostalrius Begins - Quality wow vanilla realm (1.12)

I look at the server-population level (low-medium-high) on the server selection tabs when I login, and even during the peak times of 6-7k players, the population level is ALWAYS at "Medium"... how is this?

How is it that a server of 7.5k ppl at peak time is not at a "High" population level? It blows my mind the population capacity the server can support.

On a side note, would supporting a server with such a large population capacity be very expensive (as in, costing 1000s of $)?

I think I read somewhere that their current hardware can support 10k players, or maybe 15k.

Also, a "Full" Vanilla server that put you in a login queue on retail was either 2.5k or 3k.
