Nostalrius Begins - Quality wow vanilla realm (1.12)

Hi, I am leveling blacksmithing for the first time and have come to the point where I can decide between weaponsmithing and armorsmithing. I don't really know the differences except that weaponsmiths can make some weapons, and armorsmiths can make good armor for pve stuff. I want to pve most and pvp a bit on the side. I also heard that weaponsmith makes more money in the end though.

I would appreciate any feedback people have on these blacksmithing choices!

Weaponsmithing provides better endgame options such as arcanite reaper/champion, but the quest to get it requires grinding/buying alot of annoying to get mats if you havent been saving up ore. Also you must choose between axes/swords/maces. Armorsmith is easier to get and has good utility for a plate wearer, but end game isnt as strong iirc. Generally I would ask my guild what is most needed and go with that.

Weaponsmith kind of dies off after people can start getting like AV polearm and easy access weapons no point in arcanite reaper. Lionheart helm stronghold gaunts titanic leggings etc end up being the best so imo armor smith is best. Though being able to craft arcanite reaper at the moment is a big plus.

Do you guys know/remember if there is any way to change it up later? Be a weapon smith now and after you get raid and get up into BWL, where most if not all of the great armor patterns drop, drop weapon smithing and turn to armor smithing without completely starting over. Sounds too good to be true.

No, once you pick one, you're locked in, even after dropping Blacksmithing entirely.

I think of it like this, you can make much more items that you will need with Armorsmith, without having to pick one specialization over another (Master Axesmith/Swordsmith/Hammersmith), so just pick Armorsmith and let someone else make you the weapon you need (you generally only need 1-3 weapons), this way you save allot of money and hustle by making the gear yourself + you get more enjoyment/achievement out of it

Wow, I wasn't expecting the specific tree of crafting to stick with your character even after dropping the tradeskill completely. That's interesting.
