Nostalrius Begins - Quality wow vanilla realm (1.12)

with 7k+ ppl online the server becomes very unresponsive in busy area's and it seems to crash more often then it did a few weeks ago. The stability now makes playing allot less smooth and fun for me.

I expect the server to grow quite allot still, WOD is old news now and people are looking for new mmo's to play. There are no big releases on the horizon so going back to the roots of wow is a logical step for many. I expect 11k+ by Christmas.

With this server growing and growing to rather immense size maybe the time has come to start a second server?

There are a couple of advantages to starting a second server
1. The zones are simply not made for this many people, imagine around 3k level 60's in Silithus when the AQ events start. Questing becomes impossible. At the moment not that much of a problem because of the big spread over levels and zones
2. Becomes easier to manage faction balance by giving free transfers when needed, ofcourse this doesn't work if both servers are dominant on the same side.
3. Room to grow, with the server already having noticeable problems with this amount of people it could be nice to have room to spare for more people that are jumping off the retail boat.

I would say that the server should be transferable by players for free for a limited time, and after that for balance or donation purposes.

no, but resources/commodities should be tuned to be parallel to the obviously disproportionate needs of said vast population.

People have argued that a 2nd server will split the pop.

If it goes up to 8 k, I really don't think it will.

A PvE server would attract a majority of the intake, and probably only a fraction of people already to 60.

The new server should be super low population and basically be released when people have made so much progress on the pvp one it is likely they wont swap.

Basically we only want to see about 20% of this over flowing population to head to the new server.

I am West Coast Canada, and I never deal with this so I don't care either way.

Impressive to be forced to open two servers though.

Who would reroll on the second server? I doubt any raiding guild from this server would. It's going to end up with one dead server and one highly populated one.

I think there's a high proportion of people levling to 15/35 and then saying fuck it.

for various reasons, a new PvE server wouldn't be dead imo

imo if we reach 9k players peak, we need a 2nd realm with free migration the 1st month. Maybe an US server, or PvE, or the same.

And add cross-server bg's

I have explained why a 2nd server would be bad in other threads so im not doing it again in this one but a 2nd server would not be good. I say just have this 1 server and put people in a queue at around 10k or whatever the limit is.

No way you would want a US server...and if there was one, no one would go to it for fear of Blizzard taking it down and people losing all their character information. While a second realm would be nice if you are constantly seeing 10k people, you would definitely need to offer free migration and cross realm bg's, but I guess I'm still in the minority and like the current population.
