Gold sellers...

by TheStreak » Sun May 31, 2015 12:06 am

Is that simba spamming officially sanctioned, part of the corporate plan, or what?

I haven't seen *any* other companies spamming gold selling.

I can't believe it would be that hard to make it auto-kick anyone saying that *website* in chat... or adding it to the swear filter...

I think it strokes their ego that the server is so successful there are actually gold sellers

Whats worse is they are only still here because there are people that buy gold from them.

GMs have chimed in on this. They noted that putting a filter on certain websites would just encourage the gold sellers to find ways around it. Instead of simba, next they'll use s imba, then si mba, then .(om, .c0m, etc. The filter would have to be so complex that it could kick legit players with false positives.

Or why couldn't they have a GM watching both factions trade channels banning people instantly who advertise and they could probably help tickets in the downtime.

I see the same gold spammer spamming for 2-5 hours straight. It shouldn't be that hard.

They would simply make new accounts over and over. Maybe make all channels require level 10 or something. I know they'd try and bot their way there, but Nos has good bot detection now.

While I'd like to agree with you DeeMarie, the tricky thing about this is trying to find a healthy balance between blocking the communication of gold sellers, and blocking all communication. To some, obtaining level 10 is something that you don't do on your first day of playing, which can limit your ability to take part in the community over all.

While I agree that it's a problem, I'm not sure that a level cap increase is the best solution in this particular case. But we should probably keep the 'juices flowing.' Maybe we can come up with a good idea that they haven't come up with.

Nos already has 5 levels minimum requirement to chat. So it would be not easy for them if spammers were banned instantly

The most effective way to get rid of the gold sellers is for people not to buy their gold. If there's no market, it will not be worth their time to advertise.
