Best way to help my lowbie friend catch up?

by buttliquor » Thu Jun 04, 2015 4:05 pm

What's the best way I can help my lowbie friend catch up? Aside from giving him money/gear/potions. We are Horde players. I'm a 32 undead priest and he's an 18 undead rogue. He has some decent bags and stuff already, I try to make sure he has buff potions.

I am thinking there might be a way to help him farm an instance so he can get gear, but I don't know enough about which instances are good for low level rogues (that I could help him farm)
I tried to find a list of drops for instances, but the instances on db.vanillagaming.org just seem to have a map...

Any help and suggestions would be appreciated. I feel like there's probably a good instance drop somewhere I could help him find, but I don't know any off of the top of my head

Because the level difference isn't that much, I don't think you could appropriately run him through an instance without getting killed yourself.

Get the addon "Atlas Loot", it will show you all the items dropped in instances/raids/reputation/PvP. For db.vanillagaming.org you have to look at each boss to see the drops, not just the instance.

I'd honestly just tell him to spend more time leveling. If he is 18 and you are 32, all he has to do is spend 30 or so hours to catch up. Which could be dome in a week if you are diligent even if you work or have school. If you don't believe he can level in that amount of time, look up leveling guides (such as Joana's) or have him grind it out in mobs 1-2 levels below him. If you want to help him kill mobs or do quests make sure you DO NOT group with him as you will take away most of his experience, just have him tag mobs and you kill them off.

Honestly, best way to help him catch up is to follow him around while he does his quests. Keep him buffed, healed, and body-guarded from would-be gankers. I'd avoid partying with him so he doesn't lose xp due to the level difference.

In short, reduce his downtime and he'll level quicker.

Mob tag powerleveling is allowed as long as it is someone else and not you multiboxing.
