Keep it clean, keep it vanilla

I am quite excited for this server and especially since i have seen that the devs have made it crystal clear that they gona do their best to bring back vanilla while also not making any non-Blizzlike features that just simply ruin the experience viewtopic.php?f=6&t=51&start=50
So i made a list of the strongest reasons why people should choose Nostalrius over Kronos ^^

Gold Respec

The people who like the difficulty and are sick of retail wow making things less versatile and more "Everyone can do the same thing! everything is balanced now!" Kronos is doing 10g respec cap which messes up the Vanilla spirit and removes ALOT of World pvp where people are actually farming their gold!.. Tyrs hand anybody? also the fact that there are no certain "Guild tanks" and if the tank doesn't show up, no problem! i will just run to SW/ORG and respec for 10g! - as said before it just simply is not the vanilla spirit


No Character Auction
I don't think i really need to explain here but i will anyway. ^^

Character trading will always happen and there is not much we can do about it, except GM's punishing those that get caught. But by promoting it is such a bad call from Kronos. It is and should be a black market behavior and you are taking a huge risk by being scammed. Kronos tries so hard to defend this with "They are gona do it so just let them, and lets also help them" Buying/Selling characters just reeks of http://wowpedia.org/Character_Boost and i am sure that people are not going back to vanilla to have that kind of experience.


Altered Experience boosts 0-12XP

This is not confirmed yet, but is still in discussion at Kronos. However the fact that they are ready to be having people Buying/Selling their characters on top of 2-12x XP boosts just screams out "Semi fun server" as they call it on their forums.


Cash Shop

Yeah you heard it, Here you can buy all the rare mounts that used to be available in Vanilla only at the Kronos Cash shop http://wowpedia.org/Removed_mounts - I don't think i need to explain why people dislike cash shops.


Almost no progress being made

The progress bar on Kronos has moved 4% in 2 Months.. Oh what is that? NOSTALRIUS IS READY FOR RELEASE!? but the only thing keeping them back is they started advertising only recently so they are waiting until they have around the same number as Kronos

What does Kronos have better than Nostalrius?

Not much really besides that the Nostalrius devs are considering giving beta players back (Who started at level 55) their characters back with all the gold and gear after a certain time period has passed.. BUT! only if the community wants it as they have stated that they will ask the community beforehand. - i am personally against this but this is so minor compared to all the shit on Kronos.



i personally found this site from their forums and the fact that it stays so pure - so TRUE to the original Vanilla just pulled me here on itself and the community at Kronos seems quite toxic http://forum.twinstar.cz/showthread.php ... -on-Kronos judging from their forum posters and their veteran players from their older servers being able to "Facepalm" every post that argues against developers making Kronos a "Semi-Fun" server so i haven't even bothered posting there. Even the main developers Chero himself is facepalming posts where people explain why they want Vanilla to feel like Vanilla

What are your reasons for wanting to play here instead of Kronos?

Focus on delivering a 100% blizzlike experience. There's a reason Rebirth limped along for years depsite having absolutely abysmal stabilty and downtime issues. People are looking for an authentic vanilla experience and no servers are currently able to deliver that. Kronos looks close, but their eagerness to change things and monetize grey-area transactions has really left a bad taste in my mouth. I don't feel confident that they are commited to an authentic experience long-term.

Nostalrius really needs to drop the beta-character transfer thing if they really want to be seen as THE authentic vanilla server though. And for the love of god, launch before Kronos!

Its pretty much confirmed, I believe, that Kronos is going to have x1 rates. Also, if you'd done at least some research, you'd have known that in August their progressbar was at 70%, and that their server isn't releasing at 100% but earlier - 100% on progressbar indicates complete blizzlike ideal that is obviously unattainable, as far as I'm concerned. What they do have to their advantage is a larger population, and if Nostalrius wants to become The vanilla server to play on, it should seriously create more hype - people wont care about slightly superior scripting if there will be no population. That being said, I'm eagerly awaiting for the PvP event. Hope it'll do good in promoting this server.

Keep it 100% blizzlike, or something somewhere will f*ck the whole experience in some way... it's butterfly effect.

Char restoration is either a hard question... need to be discuted between devs and beta testers (maybe poll ?) but as a beta tester myself, I go for the total wipe, no compromise... (Even if I was only geared with some epics from MC,Onyxia and ZG)

I am one of the beta players, and of course i'll be sad loosing my stuff, skills farmed etc, but i'll find it quite normal to loose a char I indeed started at lvl 55.
But I could understand that ppl who really got it from lvl 1 (and there was some! after all, even on Beta the very spirit of most of the community was fully blizzlike) can feel a real desire to find their chars back (dont forget the beta was open for many years ! ).

Besides that detail; thanks for your analysis of the differences, even if I never heard of Kronos before, I still don't want to now :p

How is that supposed to make sense, even? From what I know, the reason for the respec cost limit (which is 20% from blizzlike maximum) is lack of PvP usually happening in the world when its too expensive to switch from pve spec to pvp and then back. And Tyr's Hand, does anybody even go there anymore. No matter which server, it always seems empty, completely deserted. I think it's sad.

This realm is probably my last attempt to play vanilla wow, after so many disappointments with "blizzlike" servers. So please, keep the real deal.
