PvE difficulty

Before you read this, know that I haven't tried max level content yet, and this is purely a question I am legit wondering about, since there have always been a dicussion about WoW was hard "back then" because nobody knew how to play, and some thinks gear issues were much more noticeable.

Hello, I have been playing WoW since the AQ patch and I remember level 60 raids/instances being hard, unless you were overgearing them, and even then, some bosses or pulls could be terrifying. Now that I started playing here, I am legit wondering how hard level 60 content is, both raids and instances, compared to "back then" - Is the average player just that much better at WoW now, that instances/raids are easy so far, as long as you are on point with your gear (Wearing blues for instances, and epics for raids) - Or does gear still mean a huge thing, almost 10 years later?

I remember lots of small fun unique ways of killing some of the hardest bosses in certain instances and raids. Such as kiting last boss of UBRS as a hunter and so forth.

All in all, is vanilla WoW still as hard as it was back then, or is it easier because of the average player being better, than back then?

The game is not vanilla we have huge advantages over the actual release.

I will partly agree with this. It is vanilla in the sense that the content is all there, however the players themselves are far more knowledgeable and resourceful than what we were 10 years ago. Everything that can be done has been done several times either during 2004-2006 or on one of the many other vanilla private servers.

To put it simply, if you have the gear, you would have to be retarded to screw something up in a raid.

We are also buffed (Us and some items) compared to an actual release until we hit the actual dungeons of 1.12 we have an advantage.

Simply put, you don't play vanilla because you wanna challenge yourself in pve. If you want to play WoW for the most challenging content you join a hardcore mythic live guild, the content there is on a different level when it comes to mechanics, with this said, live still sucks balls gamewise and it really is booring, unsocial and a destroyed game as a whole.

This doesnt mean that Vanilla content was easy when it was released, but as mentioned, players were on a completely different level, optimizing your char and the whole hardcore gaming sense didnt even exist back then. And when people with experience from this past 10 years come back and raid Vanilla content rape follows.

Vanilla PVE is very easy. What little difficulty there is comes from:

(1) People not knowing what they're doing / how to play. (No longer an issue.)

(2) The 40 man raid. When a few of the late-game bosses are tuned to where a single mistake can wipe the raid, simply having to play with 8 groups becomes a huge hurdle. Suppose your average player fucks up 1/100 attempts, now add 40 players, you're going to have a fuck-up 40% of the time. Even filling a 40 man raid can be a serious obstacle.

Oh, and on Feenix Warsong, the alliance routinely clears 14/15 naxx, the hardest content, in PUG raids.

well they were farming naxx gear since 2012 and as we all know naxx gear is almost as good as blue Level 70 TBC gear!

Nope. 33.1% of the time in your example.

=D

Anyway. I wouldn't downplay the difficulty of the vanilla PvE content too much. You'll give players who struggle with current retail heroic the idea that they will have an easy time when they most certainly won't. The difficulty ramped up quite a bit over vanilla and before you outgear Naxx it certainly will not roll over and die.

Now I haven't played on Feenix, but when you say that pugs do 14/15 Naxx, that is really not saying anything given that there are pugs doing 10/10 Mythic BRF on retail. All it says is that there are some quote-unquote pugs out there that organize well and get shit done. A better indicator would be to list how many raiding guilds there are on feenix and what percentage of them have cleared Naxx. That is a number that would be far more indicative of the difficulty.

I heard that AQ40 and naxx should be pretty difficult, but i mever raided in vanilla myself.
