I have to compartmentalize my goals or I burn out really fast.

Being at level 25 and thinking of how much more play is required to get to 60 seems daunting, so instead I focus on getting to level 30 because then I get a fun new talent.

I like dungeons so sometimes I shoot for arbitrary level numbers like 43/44 so I can start running ZF for example.

Even better is when I pick up a new piece of gear that I can't yet equip, so the level on that gear piece becomes the new goal.

My recent motivation to finally push to 60 is finding a guild of really fun people that I enjoy playing with.

I hit 40 on my Paladin in the first couple weeks of the server's release, but burned out pretty hard due to ganking, and not having anyone to play with. A month or so later, I rolled an alt, found a guild, and after playing with them for a bit, I found it to be really fun. We were lacking Paladins, so I returned to my Paladin just last week.

Finding a fun group of people is essential to Vanilla anyways. Playing Vanilla solo deprives you of so much.

The nostalgia help me push, I'm enjoying every single little details of vanilla, the memories of old characters I had when I travel around Azeroth, taking revenge over mobs that killed me back then. The fun of grouping up with people because quest are very hard compare to the fail retail wow of nowadays. I'm trying to take it has lightly as possible, not pushing for the lvl 60 but rather enjoying the ride. I used to be the guy who always push and take it to seriously, now I enjoy the game 10x more and I will hit 60 when ever it happens, no stress neither pressure.

I bought some items 5-10 levels higher than mine, I set them as milestones and the greater milestone of them all to hit 60 for efficient PvE/PvP. While I'm leveling for my "milestone" I just do it as fast and efficient as possible so I can be done with it. You can also take a break on a PvP bracket like 39 or 49 for a week to get some sweet PvP ranks and then continue from there.
