Can't get past 225 skill in mining?!

So first of all, I didn't understand why I never got any skill from mining mithril and I was stuck at 225 for quite some time until I realized I had forgot to train the next skill . Anyways, now it's trained but I still don't get any skillup. I've probably mined 10 veins(~30 possibilites to gain a skill) at this point (mithril) and haven't got any skill. Can this be related, somehow, to the fact that I was delaying the artisan training and therefore perhaps the game won't let me gain any skillups because it still reads as if I haven't trained the artisan skill?

Has anyone experienced anything similar?

I used to have this issue on every server I played, I can't remember the points (from 225 to 230 I think) but I had to mine loads of mithril to be able to go ahead.

Try items that gives you + mining skill to go forward.

Pro tip: you can re-mine a node that's not grey repeatedly until it gives you a skill up, just don't loot the ore. This also works for herbs.

Either this wasn't on retail or I've never known about the most useful trick to levelling gathering professions ever.

I never had a gathering profession on retail, but it works on every private server to date.
