Too much lag ruins my experience

by Gurgel » Wed Jun 17, 2015 8:16 pm

The lag I am experiencing is unbearable. I live in Sweden, but my internet is perfect.
There is constant delay and it takes around 4 seconds for me to dismount and stealth.
I don't think Nostalrius can handle this many players.

Is anyone else having the same problems?

We all do, it's the price the server has to pay to be able to handle so many players.

I think its your internet. I m having close to 0 lag and i m living in canada westcoast. My Internet is a broadband 60. I usually download at about 6-7 meg by second.

One advice i want to give . NEVER use WIFI ....
Again NEVER use WIFI

I am saying that because i was paying close to 70$ a month for my internet and i wasn t getting the speed i was paying for. When i call my distributor to complain he told me that the speed was guaranteed only with cable. If i was using wifi i would get about 1/3 of the speed i was paying for. Since then all my gaming computers are plug with a cable and wife is only use for Ipad and Iphone.I am seeing a huge difference since then. If you are using Wifi that might be the problem

There may be a small burst of lag, but other than that everything is pretty smooth for me. However, I live in New York.

Strange. My internet is really good and have close to 5ms at all times. Nostalrius is the only private server and the only game I lag at.

Maybe because of add-on ? I dont really know. The server is located in Europe and you are way closer to it than me and Lemmy. I use 0 add on , maybe that why.
If i decided to be priest again the only add-on that are a must for me is Healbot and decursive.
As a warlock i dont feel I need any

Nearly everybody that plays at the same time as you has this same delay, and yeah it's pretty unbearable, especially dismount+stealth, vanish, druid switching forms, warrior charge etc. The server simply can't handle this many players, most people who'll tell you that they have no lag are playing at times outside of 5pm-12am server time as that is the EU peak and that's when it's unplayable.

I play with a ping of 230. The server is fine. You're all spoilt and whiny.

Sigh...

Lag =/= Latency (ping)

A ping of 230ms is exactly that a .23 second delay. If you had a ping of 4000, THAT would be equal to what the OP is talking about.

I'm in the US so don't play during the peak times (usually), but the times I have can cause me up to a 2 second delay.

Wikipedia wrote:In online gaming, lag is a noticeable delay between the action of players and the reaction of the server. Although lag may be caused by high latency, it may also occur due to insufficient processing power in the client.
