Special characters on toon creation

Cant seem to get special letters to work on character creation for some reason, what might be the problem ?
Letters show up either empty or in form of question marks.

I'm not going to pretend I know a lot about character encoding, but I know the question marks are there to show that those characters are not part of UTF-8(?) or whatever encoding WoW accepts.

Google is your friend though. OwnedCore has a 2008 post that shows confirmed(?) characters that are accepted:

well that is the problem, i cant get absolutely any of the special characters to show up, no a's no e's no i's no o's, which led me to believe something is wrong with my client and i cant seem to figure out what it is =\

Are you talking about regular characters or accented characters here? Try some out on the link I provided. Your client shouldn't be a problem here unless you somehow changed the base font for WoW itself.

i tried pretty much all accented letters and none worked, as for the font i might have changed it, gotta check it now XD

changing fonts seems to do something, will keep trying XD

I'm using the default font. Pretty sure it's Arial.

i tried arial and still getting questionmarks, guess ill need to reinstall after all =\
