Question on Leveling

Hi all, i just made a forum account to ask a quick question, I joined retail WoW mid TBC and always wondered how questing was in vanilla WoW and I wanted to know just how close the leveling experience on the server is compared to what its supposed to be, I dont care much for raiding at the moment and just want to focus on the vanilla leveling "experience". From what I have been told it is very tedious and I fully accept that, I just want to see how far I can get and just how much work it used to be to get to 60.
Quick Edit: Are at least the majority of the quests working or are there specific zones that should be avoided because of broken quests or quest chains, I know Silithus was unfinished when retail was released but thats as far as my knowledge in that goes.

There's really no way to mimic the same experience players had back in 2004 as nowadays there are addons that help you with quests, etc. as well as, you know where to go for levelling (if you've played your race before) and basic WoW stuff - back in the day people didn't really know what an action bar was so some even clicked the spells on their spellbook, basically it was a new thing for everyone. It was definitely very difficult back then, not that it's easy now, it's still difficult for any average MMO player.

Thanks for the reply, I know its mostly nostalgia thats bringing in people to vanilla WoW servers, but in the case of myself who never went through vanilla (and i would expect to do it without addons) would there be any issues mechanically or things like bugs and issues that come with trying to recreate a vanilla server that I should know to avoid.

What do you mean by recreating a vanilla server?

Jesus not this thread again. Look if this server weren't good/decent people wouldn't play it. Why not play for a bit before screaming "are there bugs".
If you want as close to a vanilla experience as possible, this server is it.

mh. since the servers population is 3x of what you had on retail, its pretty different. its much easier to find a group but much harder to do solo quests. also, due to population, pvp is more annoying while leveling, but better @60 because there are more battlegrounds etc (before servers battlegrounds got connected on retail).
so, yea, if the population was blizzlike, i'd say the server offers a very blizzlike vanilla experience. but since it isnt, the experience also differs a lot. also because of the other stuff the high pop causes, like lags, ...

I just wrote a big response, ironically like retail wow forums it bugged out and I lost all text in loading.
So in short mechanically its almost the same. In some way even better.
Sorry cant be bother to rewrite for 20min :/ ill just say even after 10 years I enjoy it just as much.

I am playing similar to how I did back in 2005-2006. Except that I have a much nicer computer so I am not stuck at the 8 to 12 frames per second and 1024x768 screen resolution that I was confined to back in the day. I am also not (as of yet) using any add-ons. And somehow I still remember the quests and am not relying as much on web sites like thottbot (which was frequently visited in those times of yore).
How am I feeling about the game here on Nostalrius? I absolutely love it. I feel very much at home.

Unless you joined post-xp nerf I'm pretty sure it is basically the same.
