Want to change Weapon smithing specs

The NPCs that give you the weaponsmithing specs have an option to unlearn them, but this feature does not work.

The weaponsmithing trainer in org (non specialization one) gives you an option to unlearn weaponsmithing, probably to switch to armor. Will unlearning it this way allow me to choose a new specialization once i complete it, IE axe to hammer?

You change profession specs in Vanilla by dropping the profession completely and retraining it from 1-300 and doing the associated spec quest.
