Is Nostalrius Going To Be Around Long?

Hello,

Firstly I just want to say that the server is great and a joy to play, but I have just one query about it; is Nostalrius looking to be around for years to come? Since the server is 1x and I invest a lot of my time into the game itself, are there any reassurances that the server won't shutdown suddenly next month or the month after?

I'm unsure fully how the server is funded, but I - as well as others I'm sure - would be happy to donate to keep the server going and/or to upgrade it; it would certainly feel like money well placed compared to official servers.

Well since it has been developed since 2015. Yes its going to stay around for long.

Nostalrius will stay for a long time as long they stay within the acceptable radar of Blizzard. Many people believe that as long private servers doesn't get continuous payments for access/services then Blizzard tend to leave it alone. Nostalrius has also been developed since 2010 so there's an hefty amount of work that has gone into it.

Nostalrius has been developed since 2010 by more than 16 experienced developers. We first held a French open beta realm. A few months ago, we agreed that Nostalrius was ready for an international launch.

I mean, it currently has over 9000 people online during peak times, which is higher than any other private server period. It'll be fine for a while.

I think what's going to happen, is that the population is going to drop down to a reasonable level after a while and it'll rock steady from there. Lots of people are going to leave because 1) spoiled by retail, and 2) lag/server instability. Though the drop in population will increase stability, so anyone who toughs it out will be rewarded by uninterrupted binging.

What we will have after that will be a solid player base of 3-5k neckbeards, and it'll be a glorious haven of butthurt and h4x for years to come. Maybe even decades.
