Mining Copper - Is it supposed to take this long?

by ArchangelX » Fri Jul 17, 2015 1:05 am

I've been doing a regular route in Elywnn for the past three-four hours and am only about level 24. Is it supposed to take this long to find nodes? I have to travel the entire map practically just to get one or two nodes. It's mind-numbingly painful.

Is this the norm, or is it due to the current server population?

I've done a seach throughout the boards and haven't found anything regarding respawn rate, or how it works. I know it's static, but what determines the respawn rate for it?

Oh, and the mines...zero luck finding a node when I run through as part of my route.

Am I doing something wrong?

EDIT: I'm also using ShaguQuest to mark out the ores and have them identified with Cartographer, but it's really slow going.

Pretty sure this server has its own spawn point for herbs/ore, get the Gatherer addon rather than using ShaguQuest and Cartographer.

I will say the lack of herbs and ore is known and is due to the high population as you said. As for now we just have to deal with a lack of herbs/ore and 50g Black Lotus on the auction house.

This should be given a high priority. I am a warrior, so mining and black smithing. I am new to the server, so no lv60s to bankroll me. Relying on the AH to find gear, or random drops or vendor trash because I can't make any decent gear because I can't gather the resources to level with is a bit ridiculous. I am a protection warrior, and I always level in the spec I am going to play, now i'm not a coder, but one would think a tank could take on 4 or 5 trash mobs and kill them (although slowly) without dying. As it is, I can barely survive 1 on 1, and half the time even that is just luck depending on how many crits or misses I get during the fight. And No, I am not a noob. I played protection warrior for 5 1/2 years in retail. I just made a half trip around elwynn forrest, got 2 copper nodes and saw NOBODY at all mining.

It's bad but not superbad. And server resets are like Christmas.
And this topic was brought up not long ago.

Herbalism is even worse. But yeah, gathering profs are kind of broken with this high of a population. Hopefully the server split takes a bit of the pressure off but I still think they'll need to up spawnrates or flasks and such are going to be a problem.

Does anyone have a database for Gatherer they wouldn't mind sharing?
I don't mind having to run around to gather stuff, but doing so blindly is annoying. Would be nice if someone could share their Gatherer.lua file from their saved variables folder if they have lots of node locations already mapped.

This is exactly how Vanilla was, to take this away would be to not make it Vanilla. This is not Wrath of the Lich King onwards with fast respawn times on resources.

I distinctly remember EPL for Thorium, it would take months to farm enough to make an item. That's what Vanilla was all about, time taken to craft or make or achieve something to give satisfaction as opposed to easy hand it to me on a platter mentality that has made WoW retail pathetic.

This is a downside of having so big population which I think is not a bad thing.
You always can buy materials from AH which is good for economy since somebody invested their time to actually find and gather the stuff.

Making respawns too fast will satisfy the demand however inflate the economy to the point where leveling a profession will be pointless unless you do it for yourself.

Thorium is just fine when you know where to look and what time here.

Oh yeah, and an epic mount. :p
