Or is everyone lagging alot and having a hard time getting in?

I haven't been able to login since last night when I ping launched into outer space @ 3-4k MS. It's unplayable. This server is amazing and it appears to work for most people. Is being based in the NA hurting my ping? Or is this just something that's unfixable?

I want to dump all my free time into this server but with how unplayable it's been the last day or two I just can't bring myself to keep leveling. Partly because I can't even login. Is this fixable?

Probably more likely that it has something to do with your ISP and location than the server.

This was my original thought. But my first 20 levels were uninhibited by lag or bad ping issues. I mean 100-200 isn't great but I expected that with a EU based server.

I don't think it's normal for someone to get a solid 20 level's (12+ hours of gameplay over multiple sessions) and then suddenly have massive ping spikes. That isn't a "thing".

Or was I just extremely fortunate during my first few days of playing?

My latency is fine and there's little/no lag, but I keep getting stuck at "Retrieving Character List" for extended periods. Sometimes it'll sit there for 10 seconds, sometimes it'll sit there for a minute, before getting to the character select.

They posted in the AV announcement, if I remember correctly Viper said they had to implement something to help fight the DDOS attacks, and it means you will often have to attempt to sign in a few times before you get through.

Yeah I remember hearing about that but my problem is that I can't even get into the server. Other games work just fine and all my other devices are working splendidly. So it's not my ISP.

Frankly I have no idea what the issue is considering the suddenness of the issue.

Your other games and devices are running from different locations and have different providers and you're likely not being targeted by DDoS. Nost has remained with the same location and provider and has been hammered with DDoS attacks, especially recently when whoever's coordinating the attack managed to break through their provider's mitigation.

The DDoS attacks have grown more sophisticated recently; many players that were able to play fine weeks/months ago may now start to see a performance problem that they otherwise haven't noticed. Viper's recent announcement said they implemented many new security features that, unfortunately, may cause users to have to login repeatedly if the first attempt fails or hang at the authentication screen for longer than normal.

The issue that seems so sudden to you...is exactly what Viper described: the new security features. Sucks, but it's that or deal with the login server being down and not able to get in at all or if you do get in, experience an insane amount of delay and/or lag.

Okay. Noted.

Here's my qualm with all of that. It was during my session last night after about 4 hours of blissfully enjoyable WC runs. I can't imagine that all of a sudden the security features kicked in on my side @ 8 PM PST. There is just no way. It would have hit me sooner if it was going to effect me at all, right?

That's the part I am struggling with. I just assumed it was some abnormal lag and chalked it up to that. But this morning I couldn't even login. I guess I will update this in 2 or 3 hours when I get home and have a chance to login and check. Your sure the security features are the cause? Not just being located in NA and being lucky this whole time? I'm at a loss. I have no idea what to attribute this to.
