Attempting the Taming the Beast quest to obtain my pet. Tamed the first animal no problem. The second animal is a surf crawler and wont react in any way. The screen says it is an invalid target.

I have tried abandoning quest, dying, rebooting ... trying the quest. nothing.

tried different area that have surf crawlers... nothing.

Had my lvl 60 friend try.... nothing.

....Im a first time wow'er so it could be a stupid mistake., but i cant seem to find a solution.

Yeah i had trouble with that too, I had to do a little research but this is what you have to do for each quest:

After you tame each pet you must abandon it and I believe i killed it just to make sure I didnt have any further problems. I remember when i had the problem I ran to do the surf crawler and the boar from the first quest didnt follow me and stayed put where i tamed him. I went to surf crawler, couldnt tame it, Abandon pet and still couldnt do it. I had to run back to the original location where I originally tamed the boar and Abandon it when it was close by to me and killed it just to make sure. Just make sure you Abandon and then kill it for each of the taming quests and that should get you through it.

Surf crawlers and pygmy surf crawlers are different mobs.
