Skeletons. Millions of skeletons.

by abasden » Fri Jul 24, 2015 4:03 am

Nostralius is a fun server. It may have a bunch of bugs, but it's fun. A thousand times more fun than that Facebook game we call Warlords of Draenor. But there's just one thing that gets on my nerves every time I quest.

Skeletons. A lot of skeletons.

You see, there is this bug on the server which make it so skeletons won't despawn. At all. In fact, there are so many skeletons that the Lich King could have tons of fun raising the piles of bones that he could make an army as large as the number of noobs killed by Hogger in Redridge Mountains alone.

What does this do? Well, for the first few minutes, you laugh in hilarity as Lakeshire is more inhabited by skeletons than the NPCs. But the sight of the white sticks and shapes gets old real quick. It breaks immersion. People want to see the Elwynn grass and trees and sheep, not bones.

I hope this bug is fixed soon.

They do disappear after like 24 hours I think or a server reset.

I don't mind them, they are good indications of where to be cautious of. Take the Fargodeep Mine for instance, I laughed at all the skeletons, then proceeded to make two myself because of the sheer chaos of that place.

So they acknowledged that it happens, and refused to do anything about it.

ok

ok

They despawn after ~12-24 hours. That suggestion was basically to show that reducing skeletons is not a factor on server load at all so that rules out any problems they should have with the skeletons. If you're still stuck in 2004-2006 era of hardware, you may want to upgrade so 10 skeletons doesn't drop your FPS.

But it's still a bug, and isn't blizzlike. It's quite annoying going around zones and seeing skeletons EVERYWHERE, because they take 12-24 hours to despawn.

And I'm running a GTX 970, thank you very much.

It's probably just me but I like the skeletons, after years of playing on servers that feel empty and not seeing anyone around seeing a pile of 150 previously dead players makes the world feel more alive... ironically.

Gotta agree, also love looking at each individual one and figuring out which race/faction died the most since they all have different models.
