A few questions.

Hi, i thought i'd make a forum post and try to get some information to help me decide if i'm gonna start playing here or not (downloading currently). These are just some questions, becasue i actually started playing wow in TBC, so i'm not all that familiar with how certain things used to be in Vanilla, particularly in the patch that Nostalrius is on. I think this topic might help other newcomers too, who can just get some answers from here instead of having to make another topic. Help is greatly appreciated, but please try to explain your answer, if even just a bit :)

1)How good were mages and rogues in pvp/pve and what were the specs used for both in pve and pvp?
2)Is the world pvp sweet here and what are the hotspots for it? (besides the obvious tarren mill/crossroads)?
3)Are there lots of battlegrounds going on at lvl 60?
4)What seems to be the win ratio (no bias please) in each bg for each faction?
5)How is the community here? I would think that it's better than in retail, because Classis was a time, when you didn't have any crossrealm and any random ppl in RDF, so you had to make aquaintances and group up with people and if you were a ninja or a prick, you ruined your rep kind of.
6)Is it fun to play here an why?
7)What are the most annoying bugs and do they affect gameplay seriously or are they just minor annoyances?
8)Can alliance and horde communicate with each other? Is there some "world" chat or not?
9)I saw that this realm is "progressive", as in content is released not all at once, but in pieces. What is the current released content?
10)What else would you like to add?

1. Great/great, combat/anything with prep, frost/frost.
2. World PvP abounds...try Burning Steppes, BRM, Un'Goro, etc.
3. Yes, although horde face a queue sometimes.
4. In my subjective experience (quiet, emo whiners), horde and alliance pugs and teams are about evenly matched when they play each other, but rarely do due to teams dodging each other in search of a quick win.
5. The forums have a more vocal toxic minority, but in-game it's more positive. World chat in combination with 6k players online can lead to barrens chat taken to an exponentially higher degree.
6. Yes, mainly due to the population.
7. The most annoying bug for me is that Eyes of Naxxramas don't come out of invisibility when they summon help, preventing you from killing them before they summon two more mobs to clear. There are major bugs, but I haven't come across any truly game-breaking ones that weren't rapidly fixed (such as NPCs doing 32k damage with their spells).
8. No. Yes.
9. Patch 1.5, with AV released and BWL on the PTR soon.
10. Nothing.

Hey Lorilay, thanks a lot for the replies: I like it, straight to the point. Hopefully there will be more replies, it's always good to get multiple viewpoints, but i like what i see here, so it looks like i'ma be giving this realm a go.

I started here 2-3 weeks ago and its nice so far. But I also have to say that I didnt ve a single wow-session yet without lag or atleast one DC =p. Today I got DC'd 3 times with 2 rollbacks,...

I guess its a good sign that I still play, even tho there re so many connection issues.

if they fix the lags(upgrade server or w/e) it would almost be a 10/10 imo 8->

There really hasn't been much d/c. Today was an exception because apparently something was bugging out or there were ddos attacks. I've been here a little over a week and excluding today, there have been maybe 3-4 crashes over the course of the week, and even then, the server was only down for like 1 minute each time.

And yes, the server does get laggy when there are more than 6500 people online, as the server really wasn't made to support that many players. In the morning and late at night though, when it drops down to 4500-5000, the lag goes away.

he pretty much said what i wanted to say, except that world pvp can become frustrating as at some place there will be lvl 60s that corpsecamp you. that and i havent played a mage here, but frost seems good. as a lock i dont like mages. eespecially the undead ones. making it hard as 40% of this server is undead

Thanks to all for replies, but try to be a bit more specific and give answers to my points please. Also i saw a chart somewhere and 40% is unrealistic, maybe 15% :)

1. Vanilla had balancing issues with certain classes who just can't compete in dps, mage and rogue are two of the best, but be warned there are 100's of them, everybody is rogue, see the census thread.

2. World PvP is more than alive, it's almost a nightmare, there are so many people on this server some areas, STV for example are just constant warzones. Sometimes it is hard to quest because there is so much PvP going on.

3. Yes, lots, but apparently alliance get in easier, AV is new out so everyone in that atm.

4. Ignore anything you hear, everyone is biased, but the alliance/horde split close to 50/50

5. Community is very alive, good players and guilds and total trolls and ninjas. With this many players you get the full spectrum from the very good to the very bad.

6. Yes, two reasons, no P2W and large player base.

7. Yeah there is the odd bug here and there, but nothing really game breaking, and yes there is a lot of bitching on these forums but at the end of the day its free and not making money by selling stuff.

8. There is a world chat for alliance and a separate one for horde, the two factions cannot communicate apart from emotes etc, just like retail.

9. Raids are just MC and Onyixia, BWL coming soon. UBRS is out, and DM, AV launched a week ago, yes it has few issues atm but you'd think the world had ended to read the forums.

10. I live in the UK and get pings of 23ms, but people in USA etc can get some lag issues, there really are always a LOT of people online.

I'm on the east coast of the USA and sit around 100ms all the time. Easily playable. Only gets laggy when there are 6500+ people online.

Thanks for the detailed reply Triggerhippy. I ain't worried about others playing the same class, if you're good, you'll rise above the majority of not so good players anyway. You're correct about the forums =/= what's actually ingame, you've always got some whiners and trolls and liars :)
