Pristine Yeti Hide

Has anyone successfully farmed these(repeatable quest in Feralas)? I have done the quest about 5 times, but it's always the same.. I log in and go kill some yeti's, I always get the Pristine Hide within 5 kills. Then I go turn it in, come back, and I have killed more than 200 yeti's without a single drop(twice now). I finally gave up, server reset, came back and got one on my second kill.. The next day I log in, get one on my 4th kill, turned it in and I've killed ~80 yetis now without a drop. I'm starting to think that the NPC/quest item recognize this quest as repeatable, but the drop table does NOT, so it only drops once per server reset. If anyone else has some input that would be awesome.

I can confirm this happened to me too while I was leveling there decided to farm yetis for it, but got the same exact story. Only got 1 drop after every server crash.

Thanks for confirming it for me, Ohr. I'll submit it to the bug tracker now that I know it's not just me.

The pristine yeti hide does indeed drop; it only drops from the Matriarchs and Patriarchs. It has a pretty low drop rate.

I have gotten the hide to drop 6 times so far, but the problem is that after I get one drop, it will not drop again until the server restarts. All 6 hides that I've gotten so far were received in less than 10 kills, and after the turn-ins I have killed HUNDREDS of yetis without getting another to drop. After the server restarted I got one again on LITERALLY my second kill. I think that the drop table is not identifying the item as being a repeatable quest maybe? I don't know, I just know that it's impossible that I can go from getting it in less than 10 kills after server restart, to killing over 300 yeti's and never seeing it drop(until server restart, then it drops again).
This is frustrating because it's my only method of farming darnassus rep besides Morrowgrain(which I can't afford lol).

If anyone feels like helping to confirm this, go kill a few yetis and get the "Pristine Yeti Hide"(or "Perfect Yeti Hide" for horde) and turn the quest in; then go back and kill as many yeti's as you can stand, and let me know if you manage to get another one without the server restarting.

update: Today I got my first hide on kill #6, then killed 10-15 yeti's before server crash without a hide. Logged back in and got one on my second kill. Wish I could use the bugtracker.. :/

I think you may be thinking of the pristine yeti HORN, for the quest in Winterspring. That drops from the Ice Thistle matriarchs/patriarchs. there arent any matriarch/patriarchs in feralas(that I know of)

Yes you're right. My mind jumped to the wrong conclusion. Apologies. I'll test this when I get the chance.

Edit: Just tested. Got the first drop within the first 20 kills then took 85 to get a 2nd and 93 to get a 3rd. It can definitely drop again but it does take longer. Most likely you're just getting a more likely chance on a server reset.

Don't trust vanillagaming drop rates. If you can find some solid evidence the drop rate should be better, post a bug report on the tracker.

tyvm for testing it, Nano. I guess I will just have to face the fact that this is not a reliable form of rep farming. If you read this I just have one last question and then you can lock the topic if you'd like:
when you say it took 85 to get a 2nd, and 93 to get a 3rd, do you mean that it took 85 kills to get your second, and then 8 kills later you got a third? Or that 93 kills after your 2nd you got a third? Thanks again for taking the time to not only respond, but to test it, I SINCERELY appreciate it.
