The Launch of Nostalrius

After 4 hours of frustration and excitement, trying to log in to the server, I finally got it. I jumped of excitement as I logged on my LvL 1 Nelf Rogue and walked up to the npc to begin my first quest. I was speechless.
There were players everywhere. Like, I haven't seen something like this in a long time, let alone of a private server. I looked at /who and my jaw dropped as I saw 4000 players online. 4000 players online and my ms was on 30 and there was no lag. That is fucking amazing

The place was packed, with players trying to do the first quest and with mobs respawn rate, it was almost impossible. Already here the social aspects of vanilla started, as I gathered 4 other LvL 1 Nelfs to go outside the starting zone to grind mobs 6 lvl's higher. We fought and hunted for hours and we died many times, but dammit we had alot of fun and friendships were made.

After 4 hours of playtime I had reached LvL 5 and I gotta say, I have never been so happy about being LvL 5 in my entire life.

To the people complaining about the login issues and the respawn time of mobs.
5000 players tried to log in at the same time. I mean what did you expect? I consider myself lucky to even have played for the first few hours of the launch.
Nostalrius is blizzlike and increasing mob respawn rate wouldn't be blizzlike and let me tell you why that isn't a bullshit argument. It is true and there are many reasons I enjoy these low rates.
First of all, it felt rewarding everytime I would kill a mob and it made everyone socialize and group up, which MMOSRPG are about. And if you don't want to play on a 100 % blizzlike realm, why would you come here?
The Nostalrius Dev Team have made it very clear that this server will be blizzlike, no exceptions.
And despite 4000 players online, the server was very stable and the only issue was logging in, but once you were in, all was well.

I'm going to bed with a smile on my face, knowing that I played on the Nostalrius launch. It didn't go perfect, but it went better than I had expected!

Thank you Nostalrius Dev Team for your dedication to vanilla players and THANK YOU for this fantastic launch!

I'll see everyone online tomorrow, gotta get a few hours of sleep lol.

...And if Zach comes here, bashing me for ''sucking the devs dick'' FUCK YOU! I'm thanking them for their hard work, something you should do as well.

Cheers!

Obviously less than 10k. Imagine wow. How many thousands were logged in on multiple servers? Big difference.

Yeah, I must say it was an oddly epic experience, and made you try alternative methods of levelling. The only wrong thing I've noticed was the existence of AQ war effort.

There was the log-in issue at the beginning but it was addressed relatively quickly and the stability is really impressive. I don't mean to bash a certain other server, but comparing this to "yesterday's disaster" is pretty much bullshit and wishful thinking on part of some people.

After the logging issue was fixed I could finally play (~3 hours or so after launch)

Getting out of Northshire was crazy difficult..
No lags or DCs.. just the sheer amount of people trying to tag mobs.

I had to literally level up by exploring westfall and duskwood ( getting the flightpaths in the way , which is nice ) , and yes , absolutely 0 lag . This really has to be the best server I have ever played one .

I saw it get to 4150. I never would have thought it would break 1k. At this point it's comparable to retail realms. No surprise, the starting areas are nearly unplayable. Hundreds of players flooding every zone, questing isn't realistically possible at all. Fortunately, this short term suffering is worth it in the long run. The population will spread out soon enough in the coming weeks. For those like myself, I gave up after trying to do a few quests. I'll come back tomorrow and see if my area has thinned out enough for me to get mobs.

It was kind of hellish, but I really enjoyed it. Every starter zone was exterminated by the swarms of players attacking everything for even a tiny bit of XP.
