Unplayable lag tonight?

Is there any reason why the lag is so bad tonight? 6700 online and the lag was not great - went down to 6300 and its even worse.

I checked in general and other areas with people and they say its the same.

Are we sure its the number of people causing it? if so it would be this bad everyday which it is not.

yeah noticing a pretty hard delay 1-2 seconds most of the time sometimes its like 4 seconds. Must be a ddos or something ive never seen it lag this badly

Cortana isn't gathering any more "personal information" than Siri or other voice recognition search software.

Same, Usually i stay at about 250ms, but yesterday was 1k-2k, then jumps to 600ms, and the lag spikes were aweful.

Could someone explain to me why anyone would want to DDOS the server? I don't get it.
