About Naxxramas

by Thanatos45 » Sat Aug 29, 2015 11:20 pm

So, I was browsing youtube today, and on my recommended videos I came across this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XBPHRlgczmk. For those want the general gist of it and/or can't look at the video right now, it's about old Naxxramas from vanilla, and it's difficulty as a 40 man raid before the expansions came in.

Now, I never got that far in WoW in general before stopping (highest was level 33 or 34, can't quite remember), and I never knew about (or never cared to notice) Naxx until now, so I'm curious about your experiences. Did it quite literally brake apart your guild and friendships? Or did you try to have as much fun as you could and shrugged off the wipes? Although, considering what the user in the video (HamsterWheelGaming) said, I'm starting to think it might've been more of the former then the latter, which is sad.

Also, if Naxx is available already (I'm not sure how to check what content is available already on the PvP server, sorry!), how much trouble is it giving everyone now?

In advance, I'm still a noob at WoW, so I apologize in advance if I have no idea what you're talking about ._.

There you find the timeline.

Yes naxx was hard but this is a private server and thus it might be easier ( there will be bugs). In addition to that players are way better than 9 years ago

Thank you for the timeline, appreciate it! So possibly sometime in 2016, if everything goes according to plan.

And you're right, by the time Naxx is released on the server, most guilds who are serious about raiding will have a general understanding of what to do, and will have the items prepared in advance, among other things.

In my personal experience it did not break my guild apart. We got to 4H right before BC released. As far as difficulty I think it required everyone doing exceptional at their job to progress through. You really couldn't carry people like you could through mc/bwl

Well, that's good to hear :D
I would imagine that carrying people through would become almost impossible with dungeons near the difficulty of Naxx, even with the right strategy for bosses and equipment.

Also, 4H? mc/bwl?

4H = 4 Horsemen. Last encounter in the Military wing of Naxx. Generally would be the last encounter before Sapphiron and Kel'Thuzad

Thank you! Much Appreciated.

Edit: Ok, so I didn't learn too much but that's certainly a blast from the past.

Ah, gotcha. So for example, VanCleef would be be VC? Or no?

I never raided retail Vanilla, but I did hardcore Sunwell progression in TBC, and Sunwell was very similar to Naxx in terms of difficulty. One of the guilds I was in died attempting M'uru (who was harder than any Naxx boss) after 300+ wipes, and I had to find a new home.

The way guilds die on bosses like that is you throw yourselves at it for months, can't kill it, and enough people stop showing up to the point where you cannot field a proper raid composition to make strong attempts on the boss. On top of that, you cannot recruit good/geared enough people to fill those slots, and eventually, when enough people burn out, the higher-ups will call it quits, and the guild will either disband or stop raiding until the next expansion. This will cause the core members to quit the game, raid elsewhere, or go casual until the next expansion, or forever.
