I'm just curious.. Since theres no 'shop' which is in nearly every game and server nowadays.

So what does Nostalrius get out of the server? If everythings free. Why are they even doing this?

How do they afford this anyway?

People, server player base excluded, often enjoy helping others and providing things to them for free. It's probably also them wanting to see if they could do it in the first place, and then maintain their labor of love.

Just like that longstanding Everquest emu Project1999, they probably pay server costs/upkeep via donations and out of their own pockets.

Why does there have to be anything in it for them?

Nice new generation American mindset you got there.

They might have a way to receive donations for those people that just really feel the need to throw money at them.

Maybe they play too and wanted to create the best vanilla experience so they could enjoy that with other people as well.

What's in for them? That is a good point. So with so many people bitching and moaning about devs, improvisations on what is and isn't blizzlike, predictions on pve servers etc etc, and being general negatron cup half empty motherfuckers. Ask yourself this question 'What's in it for them?'. If you're not donating money, donate your kindness and appreciation

Maybe, this server is a university student project just like Feenix... dun dun dunnnnnnnn

My theory is #1 gold sellers donate part of their cut or are behind the server, and/or its a group a devs who use this server as a living resume, if you will.
