I can eat to regenerate health, can't I? Also, if I don't use it I can sell the cloth I find on the AH, or I could save it for tailoring.
Edumacate my imbecile self on this topic, please.

Have fun using food in combat.
Also, most cloth doesn't sell for very much at all on the AH. Even runecloth is ~1.2g per stack

It's required to kill Loatheb in naxx.
It's a 0-mana cost heal.

You can also get anti venoms from first aid which remove poisons.

I went from 1-60, 70, and 80 as a mage and my first aid never went past 75. Currently I have another 60 mage and my tailoring isn't even trained. It's not required for anything, it's just a QOL thing. If you get low, CC, bandage, then re-engage.

For a warlock, first aid is VERY useful. Since for warlocks HP=mana (with LifeTap). Every bandage is like a Healthstone, and you can stack them.Fast source of essentially unlimited mana with short downtime. Can often prevent psychical breakdown on your party healer
Can use bandages on others too. And there is the unique "Triage' quest!
Also, bandages give you the healing during just 8 seconds when food up to 30 seconds. And as said, for eating you need to be out of combat. Out of any threat too usually.
P.S. Healing with bandages can be interrupted like casting.

I don't feel like I need it, honestly. I'd rather sell the cloth or use it for tailoring.
EDIT: And besides, how would you heal when in combat, unless you have a pet?
