Should a caster who already has Sorcerous dagger http://db.vanillagaming.org/?item=18878 be allowed to bid on Azuresong mageblade http://db.vanillagaming.org/?item=17103 in a dkp guild when most other casters are still using pre-mc patch weapons like mind carver and inventors focal sword?

Personally i think it is unethical to give someone a mageblade who already has the sorcerous dagger while most of the other casters have way worse. Do you all think it is wrong and rude for them to bid dkp on it?

They should be allowed to bid. Hands down. Mageblade is far superior for every caster and if your in a guild that uses a dkp system and you dont like it, then you should bid more dkp. Or join a guild that does loot council instead.

If you use a DKP system anyone should be allowed to bid on anything, regardless of the proficiency or if they can even use the item.

Of course he should be allowed to bid on his current BiS item. I would agree with you if he was switching it for a marginally better weapon, but Mageblade got double the spellpower of a Sorcerous Dagger and 1% crit on top of that.

That is if you are using the most basic DKP system, any guild with the knowhow will establish rules on which classes/specs can bid on which items.

This, there is no comparison between the items because one is so much better. In fact, for Warlocks at least, the Sorcerous Dagger is only slightly better than The Blade of the New Moon from Dire Maul West. I see no reason why someone who has the dagger can't get the Mageblade

If your guild does this, it's retarded. A good DKP system will be part loot council, and part DKP, to avoid situations like this where someone with an epic weapon is winning over people with blue weapons.

"Anyone can bid on anything" is not DKP, it's retardation.

my guild uses the only sensible way to distribute loot, Loot council. What I described is DKP.

Most guilds will have priority on items. Like makes and warlocks first on caster weapons. Any upgrades benefit the raid. Raiders with more dkp usually attend more raids, so the item on them will benefit others more. Dkp has flaws, yes, but all loot systems do. Just be glad we aren't all using gdkp.
