Character Names

There must be countless names reserved by level 1s who have never logged even an hour of play time. I wanted something with a little historical flavour, and it seems that pulling from a list of one hundred or so characters in the Iliad, they all are taken.

Staff don't free up names... even on banned accounts.

I think this will be another reason why lots of ppl will roll on the new PvE Server. There is nothing better than start a new Character on a new Server with the name you really want and love. The Charactername is one of the most important aspects of the game since it will accompany you through the whole game and represent you and everything you stand for.

I almost raged when i tried my favourite names since nearly every name is already used. I added them ingame and no one ever logged in. So i know your feeling brah.

But that will also be a reason why i will reserve 10 names on the new server, i dont care about others maybe want these names also, but most of them are names which i already played on other servers/games. I also dont care if i maybe wont even play like 6 or 7 of them, its just that i dont want to see other ppl running around with the names i prefer.

I was baffled by the fact that my 3 letter name wasn't taken by a German or a fanboi when I made my character. Was already thinking of names I would've used instead.

simple answer: nobody wants to be "Ohr" hell even the name "iol" is better

Many germans dont like to pick up german names since we think that english names on an english server sound way more cool.

Maybe its the same with english speaking ppl, they may like german names since they sound exotic and harsh to others. I just wunder why i havent seen any "SAUERKRAUT" or "BRATWURST" yet.

They should free up these "occupied slots" by deleting those chars/account that never logged in after first month/after 1 year.

I know a private server that once in a year used to clear these "unused" slots.

I don't think they will ever do it, and we have to see such ugly nicknames around.

Yeah. Wiping the names on perma banned accounts seems like a good idea.

Not sure how I feel about freeing up names on inactive accounts... I guess it depends on how it is done.
If it is done by deleting characters, then I'm against it, but if it is done by forcing a namechange after a certain period of inactivity then I'd be all for it.

Also, this seems like a better fit for the suggestions forum rather than the general discussion.
