Nostalrius Begins - Quality wow vanilla realm (1.12)

I know I will get bashed for this.

I've been multiboxing on live servers since 2010, I was really excited to do it on this seemingly awesome server. Finding people for low level quests and dungeons, enjoying the vanilla leveling experience... I had been missing these things for many years, but then my hopes were crushed when I found out that this server's staff is anti-multiboxing. Still, this server is awesome and I'm glad to have started playing on it just now, even though it does feel weird to play as a single character after years of playing 5-10 characters at the same time.:/

How do you multibox with 10 characters and at the same time do "Finding people for low level quests and dungeons, enjoying the vanilla leveling experience"? Want to do deadmines with 10 different parties at the same time?

I too find it kinda dumb.

The common argument is "if multiboxing were allowed, everyone would multibox", but on other servers I played which did allow multiboxing.....barely anyone did it.

Like on feenix, I multiboxed 5 shamans on the TBC realm, and half the people I came across were surprised to see a multiboxer. (and some fucktards whispering me saying that they're reporting me for "scripts" or "botting" and other such bullshit)

The catch was that you couldn't multibox in PvP, which included pretty much any PvP content: battlegrounds, arenas, even world PvP; multiboxing in those types of gameplay would get you a ban.

You "multibox with 10 characters" and "find people for low level dungeons and vanilla questing" the same way that you play a 60 and a 15.

Why are you assuming he's trying to do both at the same time?

Multiboxing isn't very blizzlike. Yeah it's true it's legal on retail realms, but it was also very uncommon because it meant paying more for more subs, more expansions, etc, and if Blizzard cared more about game balance and less about selling subscriptions, it probably would've been illegal there, too. Multiboxers in retail vanilla may have been something like 1:50,000 people or fewer.

If it was allowed on this realm, it would probably be closer to 1 out of every 50 people.

It would cheapen the difficulty of obtaining level 60, allowing players to more easily get max level alts with multiple professions.

It would increase server congestion by ensuring a few hundred more accounts are connected at any given time.

It would require more policing (ie it would probably have to be banned in PVP.)

These are at least the problems that occur to me. I'm sure Nost has their own reasons.

I'm pretty sure the main reasons are:

It's free to play here, and with an old client, you can easily multibox 5 accounts (that's 4 extra connections to the server) on a cheap Dell machine.

**This is the #1 reason, I'm sure of it.

And the annoyance of dealing with the reports "he was clearly pvping back on the account" | "no the dumbass attacked my character when I had thorns up and died in 3 hits because he's lvl 15". Thus combing through damage logs to see who did what.


I highly doubt it has anything to do with cheapening the experience. After all, then they'd have to say you couldn't have guilds runs where 4 lvl 60s run you through a dungeon to get the quests there done quickly. Or hang around and keep the gankers off you or help you kill quest mobs while you level.

Or just grouping with your character on their lowbie alts so you can quest/dungeon fast. -- What's the difference in level speed of 5 individuals grouping for several hours and 1 person with 5 accounts doing it? Nothing.

Look at every classic EQ server for an example of why multiboxing ruins servers. It's not quite as bad in WoW but it makes world bosses pretty stupid, inflates the economy, and leads to stupid shit like 12 different people farming scarab lord on ED.

Multiboxing kills dungeon loot economy. Disenchants, flask recipes, orbs would drop price in half. I have 2K LBS in bank on another server from this way casually.

If they allowed boxing, I would leave immediately.
