Nostalrius Begins - Quality wow vanilla realm (1.12)

So I'm relatively new to Vanilla and am not familiar with the seasonal events timing/duration.

I picked up the quest from the Harvest Fest NPC on Saturday night just outside of Org and paid tribute at the required shrine in Ashenvale last night (Monday). Go to turn in the quest, and the NPC is gone.

Is the event already over, or have they just turned it off to troubleshoot stability issues?

Any clarification is greatly appreciated

It only lasts 1 week, this year from the 21th to the 28th September.

If you completed the quest Honoring a Hero, aren't you supposed to receive a letter 2 days later containing an item ?
Not sure if it was already the case in vanilla.


Thoughts on a possible Halloween ?

I paid tribute at the monument but was not able to turn the quest in because the NPC was gone. I wonder if I will receive anything in the mail?

I was able to complete the quest at the NPC. Didn't get the item in mailbox after 2 days so I guess you didn't miss anything. Not sure if we are supposed to receive it though.
