Nostalrius Begins - Quality wow vanilla realm (1.12)

Hello! im new here (just found this through a friend of a friend). I read that its unlikely that the server will be shut down (which is great), but what im wondering is more about the future plans for the server, do they plan to run em "forever" ? Cause id hate to commit if they will be taken dow

This server will be around for at least a year longer, I can tell you that much. They have been staggering content release, currently everything up to BWL has been released. So they plan to release ZG, AQ, Naxx, etc eventually. A lot of this stuff is planned going deep into 2016.

Ahh ok ok, well, would be a shame if they take it down after everyhing is out, unless the server gets deserted (which i doubt).

hope you have a pleasant stay on Nostalrius! In a few of the stickied Threads you can find timelines and infographics that will help you understand which content we currently have available. In the Terms of Use (ToU) you can also find the confirmation that after Naxxramas is cleared (~Mid-End 2016), a TBC Server will open with an option to Transfer your Vanilla character, while the Vanilla Server will still be available.

A personal Advice for you if you start playing on the PvP Server: Do not read so many Forum Threads, it's 95% nonsense and prepare yourself for many and long corpseruns as soon as you enter non-faction Territory if you solo play

It's not that bad if you play smart. I've got 3 lvl 60s now, two of them clothies - i didn't find levelling that bad.
Currently levelling a mage @35, so doing it again.

Just avoid STV, go to Desolace first. Then come back to STV at about 36. This works for both factions.

Ah, cool thanks for the info guys ! Im trying to do some research on where to play (if its worth it), got a few friends (think we are about 5 people) that are trying to decide if we should abandom retail (since its not verry enjoyable anymore. The thing is, we have pretty much nailed it down to either Kronos or Nostalrius (i hope i can mention that other one here). We are just tying to look at all the pros and cons, and since we are all in for a long term commitment (lets face it, vanilla takes more time). As far as i know Nostalrius is only funded privately, which makes me worried, but i guess i cant expect any kind of reinsurance on that part, i just have to hope it stays alive and enjoy the ride !

I understand what you mean, and I, too, hope that Nostalrius stays up for quite some time. Even in the future, I will still be playing, as I wish to experience everything that the classic game has to offer. I would be truly sad if it were to shut down someday, as it is one of the most quality private servers I have ever discovered. I would like to commit my time here knowing that it will be maintained for years to come. Unfortunately, there may come a time when they can no longer handle the task, and I realize that, but I at least hope that they will make an effort to keep it up as long as possible. It means a great deal to everybody here, myself included.

Im feeling the exact same way ! I guess if they had other sources of funding i would be a lot less worried, maybe something to implement for the future.

Leveling isn't terrible by any means on the PvP server. Unless you are extremely unlucky? Current level 54, all solo. Been ganked a few times but never camped.

Btw, i cant find where they state it will continue to run after naxx and the opening of the other realm checked a few timeline posts, can someone send a link/quote please ?
