IMO people are really OVER estimating the impact that the PvE server will have on nostalrius.
If you look in world chat everybody is saying that "it will kill teh server!!!1!11" when that is simply not true.

Lets go over the facts for the PvE server.
-2.5k cap
-During the test, 70% of all players(around 1.5k on during short test) on the PvE server were brand new accounts.
-Majority of people prefer PvP to PvE

With all this in mind, you should be able to come to the conclusion that most people on PvE server will be new players who exclusively play on PvE servers, and it will have a 2.5k cap so there is no way it will 'kill' the pvp server which regularly peaks at 8k.

So there are 2 possible outcomes to the release of this PvE serer.

-Carebears leave PvP server, bringing peaks down from 8k to 7k, and dips down to 3k instead of 3.5k
-More buzz about nostalrius on the internet because of PvE launch causes the PvP population to increase(or stay the same along with a max pop PvE server), with many new people hearing about it.

Just my .02 take it or leave it, we will see what happens a few days after the server launches and things stabilize.

There are many other PVP only projects that can't start a PVE project due to a smal playerbase, this will most likely kill other projects and gather up more people in this one.

Doubt the impact will be noticed on the PvP server as there are two different customer segments being targeted. The question is if new neutral players wishes to have arbitary wait times for the early starting content that only became present due to optimization fixes when the PvP server was getting swarmed.

By a large margin actually. Adding in RP realms, 64% of the player base played on PvE realms, that's close to double the amount of people playing on PvP.

I'll gladly let the PvE server take some population away from the PvP server. If it means no more "8k+ player lag" then I'm all for it.
