Nostalrius Begins - Quality wow vanilla realm (1.12)

Hey, I'm just going to copy Bazinga's post here because it describes the solution very well. Thought it deserves a topic of its own though, since nobody has the patience to look through dozens of inconspicious topics to MAYBE find something relevant to the problem.

So, here we go:

That is not well thought since it will be a big mess up for many people and their config files. It's not just the folder to rename. Many addons save their settings with the realmname.

for people who don't know how to search and replace a string in every file in a whole folder structure, download notepad ++ , open it, push ctr+f and do this

Edit: dont forget to change the folder name in .../WTF/Account/<youraccountname>/ from Nostalrius Begins to Nostalrius Begins PvP. Otherwise the client will just create a new one with new addons settings and ignore the one you edited with Notepad++. If that happens, just exit the game, delete the new folder with its settings and rename the old one you previously edited with Notepad++.

Can confirm this worked; logged in to find addons reset, did this and now they're back to normal.

Thank you for this. Re-doing mods for 8+ characters every patch was something I never enjoyed about retail WoW.

Now I know why stuff like DUF wasn't copying over to the PTR. Cool.

EDIT: Never mind, DUF is still retarded. Oh well.

just a note to any lazy cunts like me who logged on before doing the fix for auctioneer:
don't find and replace "begins-" with "begins-pvp" (ignored all items with begins in the name at least) because it just causes more hastle than typing in "nostalrius begins" instead

long story short I had 2 entries for "nostalrius begins pvp": the original data I had and a load of blanks from when i logged on before doing the fix. the blanks overwrote the actual data though when logging in. so glad I had a backup so I could thence do it with the suggested search
