Worth playing w/o raiding?

Good day to all of you.

My question is, is it worth playing Vanilla WoW if I do not plan on raiding when I reach 60? I'm more of a casual player and like to get on and off depending on how much time I have to invest into the game. Would the game still be enjoyable @ 60 w/o raiding? I imagine PVP is not the way to go either in that case, since all the good gear comes from raiding or getting ranks, either of which comes only with a higher level of devotion. And still, you'd need gear to get there.

I kind of like the levelling process and the social part of the game, running low-level dungeons, if there's time. But much of that will stop @ 60, if I do not plan to invest in raiding, surely?

Also, what alternatives are there? Like, making a 60 for twinking @ 19, for example, what do you think? Could it be a viable option on Nostalrius?

how about...
PvP to r10 then just play casual pvp for fun.
Become a Chinese Farmer and Farm Herb/Orb to buy casual epic gear.
Play the Auction House and see how rich you can get.
Just do some Wpvp while RPing with Friends.
etc etc :)

well on retail vanilla i was actually unable to raid.

because... well... retri

the vanilla high-end dungeons can be very enjoyable, if they are well scripted.
if u don't care for the size of ur epeen, u wont have any sings of boredom soon, even without raiding.

I never were hardcore raider or pvp'r in retail vanilla and i did just fine. I took it slow and did PvP and even raided MC before TBC with casual guild and i never got my ass handed to me so badly that i needed to go hardcore player

And on this server im taking even slower and im not worried at all, im just missing the RP bit i had before otherwise its been great so far.

Only a very small portion of vanilla players actually raided consistantly. PvP, rep, gold farming (especially for your epic mount), dungeons, professions, etc. will keep you busy.

This is several years after Vanilla. We know all about it. You won't have many problems gearing up even as a casual player. It might take longer, but it's not a final barrier.

I haven't raided on vanilla (almost) and still enjoyed it.
Imho, there's still a lot of challenge in it. (solo farming at some places for instance)
Getting t0 and then t0.5 still takes a LOT of time, and is fairly "casual".
Surely you'd be able to raid every once in a while?
Forget about r14 pvp. On the other hand, there's plenty of proof that gear won't always save you. (world of roguecraft is kind of fun to watch, even though it's full cd on every single target)
