The devs are trying to handle it. If you have suggestions for how to approach it without overly inconveniencing legit players there is a forum for that: Suggestions Forum

There's really nothing that can be done to stop spammers, outside of drastic shit like disabling all forms of chat on all characters below level 10.

Get SpamThrottle and stop whining.

It's been talking about for ages.... right click in chat on their name -> target, type /ignore. Simple.

They massively ban the spammers on a regular basis. The problem is they keep coming back. There's no permanent solution that won't enforce a "guilty before innocent" logic, which means disrupting regular players. I'm afraid we'll always see spam so long as they have a business, so really, you can blame all the people using their websites. If no one used their websites, they'd have no business to spam for, and thus would hang it up. You'd think this would happen after all of the player bans for gold trading, but apparently it's not been enough, and might not ever be.

There are more players on this realm than any retail realm in history. Having gold sellers here makes more sense than on retail.
