Incorrect Information Permitted / Corrections are locked

Why is it okay for forum moderators to allow people to create threads that are providing incorrect information and confusing people seeking knowledge with clouded opinion.

However when other people step in to provide evidence of the inaccuracy and elaborate of the correct information of said subject, the thread is locked.

I feel either remove the thread that is a plague of inaccuracy or if you are going to lock the thread, provide a GM/DEV view point on the subject during the locking of the thread.

"enough is enough" is just as mundane and childish as the one or two people that drove you to close it in the first place.
