Server Population Comparison to Blizzard's Vanilla Servers

Hello to all,
I am wondering how Nostalrius' current population compares to the old Blizzard vanilla servers, as I do not know what the average or exact numbers were for those. I mostly played on "medium" population servers back in the day, and found the game quite playable on those, so I am curious to find out where Nostalrius would fall in comparison to those standards.
Thank you for your time.

I have heard that Nostalrius' average and peak populations slightly beat that of a populated Blizzard Vanilla realm.
~ 2.5k average
~ 5k peak
Correct me if I'm wrong.

Having been here from the launch (almost a week, wow!) I can say that the average is about 3.5k. Peak is 5.3k, and at lowest the population is well over 2.5k (which was the vanilla server cap btw). So definetly there's a lot more people playing than on a high pop vanilla server.

If my memory is correct, on Kel'Thzuad (highest Alliance server) had roughly 2k peaks on Saturday/Sunday.
Keep in mind, on retail players are region locked to EU/NA, not the case for Nos.

I would say 3.5k is the average

That is probably closer to true. I have never seen the population go under 2500 IIRC.

I played on Kel'thuzad US, I don't remember it being known as the highest. It did have a very high alliance population though.

It's basically been 95% Alliance since vanilla.
