Nostalrius Begins - Quality wow vanilla realm (1.12)

Will the quest objects for http://www.wowhead.com/quest=101/the-to ... infliction disappear if I drop and retake the quest?

I've acquired all the items for this quest except for the last (10th) ghoul fang. The first 9 came quickly (almost a 2/3 drop rate), but I've been farming the Raven Hill Catecombs for 2 days now, including hundreds of kills (spreaders, flesh eaters, etc.), and the last fang just won't drop. The good news? I've gained a whole level killing these guys.

Has anyone experienced this problem and, if so, were you able to solve it?

I had the same experience in Redridge on the quest to obtain the blackrock axes. Got all but one axe, then I dropped and reacquired the quest and got the last axe on the first kill.

(FYI, I did check the bug tracker and no bug for this quest exists)

Quest items only disappear upon quest abandonment if, they're unique to the quest, such as Dartol's Rod of Transformation http://db.vanillagaming.org/?item=5462#provided-for. Items that are objectives for quests, like silk cloth for http://db.vanillagaming.org/?quest=4449, will not disappear, because they are not unique, and are materials used for other objectives, same goes for reagents. In the instance of The Totem of Affliction, all of the associated items are unique, and are not used for any other objectives, so yes, quest abandonment would delete them.

Also, are you sure you don't have ten? Are you using Questie? Sometimes, if you go by Questie, it has an off by one error, where it doesn't start counting items until you have the second, so, even if the quest is complete, it will show nine on the tracker.

Thanks for the quick reply, Boxer. I was not using Questie but I was using the Extended Quest Log. At any rate, I disabled all of my addons and no joy - both the quest log and my bags showed 9 ghoul fangs. Looks like it's back to the catecombs... ugh.
