Alright ladies and gentlemen, I need your help with a curiosity. What made you quit retail wow? Or, if you still play, what is the biggest complaint that you have. I've created a poll and sincerely appreciate your input. I realize not every micro reason is on there, feel free to choose up to 3 that best fit. Please feel free to voice your opinions, but keep if classy. Thanks everyone.

Cataclysm killed it for me. The mangling of the talent trees (put all my points in a single tree until 60? No thanks) and the whole "even though this area would normally be 'green' to you, we don't want you questing/grinding here, so you cant get experience unless you're in the zones we think are correct" stupidness. Blizzard's whole "even though you've been playing since November 2004, we here at Blizzard know what's best for you, Jeddite" attitude.

Oh, and holy cows -- Tauren dont every tank and healer, thanks (LORE LOL).

Ranked Battlegrounds was way too little, way, way, way too late.

Cata killed it for me as well. You literally didn't have to leave town to play effectively. I didn't have to farm, quest for gear, invest in a profession, have a guild, or do any of the things that make an MMO.. an MMO. I felt like I was playing a single play game, which got boring quick

I left retail for many many reasons, but the MOST IMPORTANT is that gear isn't worth anymore, without that the game has no challenge. It was the whole purpose of everything

I loved the beginning of cata, the dungeons were tricky again and the raids were split instances and not a huge bulwark where you have to fight 14 bosses one after the other. I really enjoyed raiding the first tier - man hc cho'gall and the sinestra fight were unforgiving. Firelands was a solid raid and ragnaros hc incredible difficult(we never made it), but somehow we lost the interest somewhere between firelands hc and the deathwing raid.

That was it for me, the 2nd half of cata was superbad but the first one was really nice (imho)

I played through pandaria with major breaks and like 1 month of wod but never really enjoyed any of them, eventhough several reallife friends started playing with the release of mop.

I'll never come back.

I'll second this, I also really like the social interaction of forming groups on Classic sometimes you have really interesting exchanges over the requirements of bringing that healer who wants no clothies in the group or a dps warrior giving up certain loot rolls; settling these problems are interesting, to me at least and sometimes you get to dodge a bullet. Also while you wait for everyone to get to the dungeon people talk to each other and you get to know who you're dealing with before being dumped into the instance guns blazing.

I also like how karma really kicks in when players act like ass holes.

Lastly, the big thing that turned me off since Wrath was tier skipping, from Vanilla through TBC I really enjoyed coming in late and still doing all the tiers successively, and since mid Wrath all you do is the latest patch and nothing else which has gotten progressively worse.

I quit retail less than a week ago and Vanilla WoW (which I played back in the day) is a welcome experience again.

Retail WoW has just killed the community. You can use their Group Finder to do anything, including dailies, and it will group you up with people from random servers. There is no reason to be in a guild anymore.

One thing I really enjoy is leveling zones. Retail is just a mad rush to hit the next expansion end game level, which typically only takes 2-3 days, and then there is little incentive to keep players in the world. The appeal of Vanilla is the huge variety of zones to enjoy and I see it is alive with a lot of players.

I always hated flying mounts/fast travel that made the world much smaller. Currently, I am enjoying World of Walkcraft and just enjoying the immersive environments.

Thanks to the folks running this place. I am enjoying it a lot already!
