You're missing something.

You get one repeatable quest worth 50 rep per turn in.

At friendly you get a second repeatable quest, then a third at...honoured I think, worth 100 rep.

You can do it in a weekend if you play enough.

Also observe that he's human, so 10% racial rep bonus.
