Nostalrius Begins - Quality wow vanilla realm (1.12)

Hello all

I have this odd graphical glitch that I'm trying to resolve on peoples character icons (screenie below). Graphics card driver is up to date (GTX 570), I'm not running any add-ons and I have tried two clients (the one recommended by Nostalrius and the one beneath it).

Does anyone have any ideas about this, never experienced it on retail or any other private server, it's driving me mad and I have no idea how to fix it.

looks like you use sweetfx from your screenshot, maybe it's related.

Never even heard of Sweetfx, just downloaded the client/s and played.

What makes it look like Sweetfx?

This is how wow has always looked to me.

Anyway, I haven't downloaded this Sweetfx and I did a search for it and it isn't on my system.

Any other ideas please?

Maybe Damaged Files inside MPQ, maybe try a fresh download.

Also it can be a Hardware Error, regarding your HDD, RAM or Mainboard. Had this Problem myself and it was a damaged RAM Control Chip

It's a corrupt MPQ file. Somehow one of the textures in it isn't being shown at the proper position. As in, the Lua cold isn't resolving the part of the sprite correctly.

You got a bad copy online I'd reckon. Search "WoW 1.12" on a torrent tracker site and sort by seeds. Get a fresh download from one of those links and give it a shot.

I HAD this problem before, and I searched and searched until I came by a post from very early wow days.

Here is the solution that worked for me, keeping in mind my machine is pretty good all round since buying it recently and its more than capable of running most things on Ultra.

Solution : Play with the Multisampling settings in the Video Settings.

I went through each one and restarted to finally find the one that stopped making that Glitch appear.

Also the setting I used was 24-colour 24-depth 8x Multisampling.
