Hello everyone!
I'm new to WoW, never played it and decided to try it on Nostalrius. I've enjoyed it a lot so far, the game is really good, but I'm stuck right now. I got to level 17 on a night elf priest, completed all the quests I could do in the Darkshore area and have more to do in Ashenvale.
The thing is I can't really complete a single one there because I get constantly killed by horde players that have many more levels than I do. Sometimes I can run away using renew, psychic scream and shielding, but most times I can't. For example, I have a quest in which I need to get about 20 items from murlocs at the beach, and there's a lot of horde players in that area and I can't even get close to it.
Is there any point in trying to quest in Ashenvale when you're just starting in the game? Is there any way to complete these quests? Are there alternative ways of leveling up at this level, besides grinding lower areas in Darkshore?
Any advice on this would be great.

Hi, i have levled a alliance warrior to level 30, without being in a contested area ( nearly ) - Use darkshore, then duskwood, redridge, wetlands - and rotate between them, worked perfectly fine for me. Ive stopped levling that alt now because i get constantly ganked in Arathi, but i dont like alliance anyway =)

Go to Westfall until 20, then redridge/ashenvale.
I managed to level fine in Ashenvale, the beach is the only really bad spot. You are otherwise describing the server all the way to 60.

Darkshore has a lot of quests you probably didn't do yet. There's a whole bunch of hidden quests from remote NPC's hiding in a bush somewhere.
For an overview of all quests that start in Darkshore check:
http://db.vanillagaming.org/?zone=148Regarding Ashenvale, it is a conflicted zone, but mostly horde occupied. They have more quest hubs, and two flight paths in it. So as an alliance you'll always be outnumbered by default. It's not impossible to level there, it's just difficult.
Most other areas will make for a smoother leveling experience though. Wetlands is completely alliance occupied, and so is Duskwood. Both areas have plenty of quests too.

Ok, from the sounds of it your playing on the PvP server, on this server type players from the opposite faction will attack you, there are various hot spot places where PvP can happen including the infamous Stranglethorn Vale and yeah very often a low level player will unfairly get murdered by a very high level player that's usually max level.
If your playing on a PvP server then should expect this to happen from time to time although once you get to 60 yourself and have good gear then you can do revenge but if you don't like the whole World PvP stuff while questing and since you are a new player after-all then I would recommend that you should play on the PvE server instead. On that server you will not get attacked unless you flag yourself for PvP so you can quest in peace.
But if you want to carry on in the PvP server your on then you could level in Redridge Mountains instead for your current level and then move onto either Duskwood or Wetlands a little bit later if you don't like questing in Ashenvale as these 3 other zones are more Alliance based zones.

Hey there - and welcome to the game then
Sadly, what you have experienced is something that will happen for a long while, until you level up. It was one of my main reasons for leaving the PvP server when the PvE server opened.
If you are into PvP that is fine, of course - and it´ll get better later on as some have pointed out.
If you dislike the constant interruption, corpserunning and the likes while you are trying to quest, you might consider playing on the PvE server instead though.
Whatever you choose, good luck to you

Make sure you pick up the Questie add-on (check add-on forums for it). It will show you all the available quests on your map so you don't miss any and don't go to a higher level zone prematurely.
