Server Lag During East Coast AM

I'm home recuperating from surgery and pass the time playing WoW during the day on the East Coast of the U.S. Lately, there are over 10,000 people online at the same time and there is a ridiculous amount of lag. I know many people are blaming a certain part of the world for this influx of players, but that's besides the point.

What I want to know is: Is anything being done to address this issue overall?

Considering the fact that with 11k on just yesterday the server wasn't THIS laggy (atleast for me over here in Bulgaria). Now the lag is pretty unbearable with a little over 10k. I would assume something else is going on and that if it's something bigger than just high pop the Nost team might need some time to react (or atleast to come up with a solution to the problem). I would say the problem is rather new since I'm able to play with next to no lag even with 11k people on.

UPDATE: Just got on and we were arround 9500 and it was just as bad. I have no reason to think /who isn't working properly but I'll consider it as a fault on my side. In any case the lag is worse than ever and it's still hard to associate with high pop.

Yeah for sure. Sometimes it runs fine with 10k+ other times like right now it's super bad. I dunno whats going on but it doesn't happen too often for me.
