Nostalrius Begins - Quality wow vanilla realm (1.12)

Update: The overwhelming response to this petition has been no. So for those of us wanting a PVE server we will simply need to understand this will not happen and we need to adapt our play style. Thank you all for your feedback.

I know I'm probably going to get a lot of flak for this but after seeing fellow guildmates complain about the ganking hell that is STV, as well as numerous threads on the zone, I feel perhaps it might be best to propose this.

PVP servers serve no useful purpose other than enabling an outlet for ganking douchebags to hinder people's levelling process, resource gathering and personal fun. The isn't just WOW, it happens in any MMO where PVP is forced.

If the server switches to PVE this solemn promise is given:

• Those of us who want to PVP will flag for it.
• We will most definitely join WPVPs on Southshore, Terran Mill, Crossroads, Hammerfell and Refuge Pointe.
• We will most definitely join battlegrounds.

We simply don't want PVP forced on us.

We have a large population but we don't want to lose anyone. Our vibrant community relies on making people feel welcomed. If you are constantly being ganked by players several levels higher, or groups of roaming players, I wouldn't blame you for eventually quiting.

Changing the server to PVE would simply police this kind of behavior and put it in its proper place for a time and place for everyone.

How about no.

Hydra, I think this idea would work, but since this is one of the very few private servers that gathers this amount of users, it is simply not attractive to too many users. It is a thing that you have to live with. For me, its a true vanilla like experience.

And I agree, except realize this. Blizzard had in orders of magnitude many more PVE servers during vanilla than PVP servers. I played on the PVE server Zul'jin for 4 years server beginning at launch until a coworker invited me into his guild on Malorne; a PVP server where I played for about 3 years. So I can say I played on both server types for about the same length of time. My personal experience from both is there is virtually little difference between PVE and PVP servers except one distinct thing: PVE servers automatically police those players who would otherwise be assholes to others.

Not going to happen. Too many people want a PvP realm, and it makes NO sense to change the realm over after it's been established for a couple of weeks.

I completely understand your point, and I agree with it. The issue is, that there are too many players who care too much about the PvP aspect of the game, and without it the server wouldn't have the population is has right now. I guess your idea is worth thinking over, when (and if) there will be a launch of the second server. For now, the players who are in your situation have much harder life than those who enjoy open PvP server.
